Mentre i genitori sono in vacanza, Isabelle e suo fratello Theo invitano Matthew, un giovane americano appena conosciuto, a casa loro. Durante la convivenza, i tre ragazzi sperimentano un codice di comportamento e esplorano le proprie emozioni e pulsioni erotiche.Bertolucci rivisita il '68 e lo fa con una ricercatezza di stile che sfiora il manierismo. Per chi ha amato un film altrettanto attento a ogni minimo segno portato sullo schermo sembrerà quasi contraddittorio parlare qui di manierismo. Invece di questo si tratta. Se "Ultimo tango" sembrava ormai alle spalle la sua ossessione ritorna. Con in più il raffinato ammiccamento cinefilo che fa sì che il terzetto che si forma trova il primo collante proprio nella passione per il cinema di qualità. Peccato però che lo sfondo di questo sottile gioco al massacro erotico sia il '68. Sul quale emerge una posizione che farebbe nascere sotto i polpastrelli la parola 'reazionaria' se i tempi non fossero cambiati. I gemelli di Bertolucci hanno bisogno di un sasso che spacca una finestra e di un giovane americano tanto 'puro' quanto pragmatico e utopista al contempo, per rendersi conto che 'fuori' sta capitando qualcosa di assolutamente nuovo che travalica la rappresentazione della realtà offerta dal cinema. Bertolucci torna a raccontare di un mondo medio borghese che ben conosce ma che non è rappresentativo del '68 e delle sue rivolte politiche e sessuali. C'erano anche loro, è vero, e probabilmente oggi stanno dall'altra parte ma il film non lo dice. Preferisce attardarsi sui giovani corpi nudi lasciando spazio a una frigida ricerca estetica. Per molti di quelli che non c'erano è una lettura consolatoria fatta da un Maestro che forse ha dimenticato i veri, per quanto confusi, sogni di quella generazione.

Yelle (a feminised acronym of YEL, “You enjoy life”) is a French singer from the town of Saint-Brieuc, Bretagne. She rose to fame on MySpace when she posted a song titled “Short Dick Cuizi”, dissing Cuizinier, a member of the Parisian hip-hop group TTC. With producer and close friend GrandMarnier, Yelle has recorded a debut album Pop-Up, after her hit single “Je Veux Te Voir” (a finalized version of “Short Dick Cuizi”). The song, which samples the bassline from 20 Fingers’ 1994 club hit Short Dick Man, received heavy airplay on MTV. She was also featured on Fatal Bazooka’s song “Parle à ma main” in 2007. As of October 2007, she is opening for Mika during his European tour.

I didn’t know what to expect from Yelle because I never heard from her. But when I played her first song “Ce jeu” I got into her. That song is so sweet that you will love it from the start. Though when you get to “À cause des garçons” the electro sound really kicks in which I also love especially all those effects and layers. I think that “À cause des garçons” is a club song because it really is a track which would be played in the clubs here. Though one of my favorite song of the album is “Les Femmes” it’s really laid back and another song that will get you instantly hooked on her. This album is definitely a album to have for electropop fans and also for those people who want something else

Okay I have to confess I LOVE PERFUME. There songs are great and energetic and that’s something I really need on my new job. It’s funny, cute and great electro/techno/jpop music. It’s electro but you also know it’s Japanese (and that is also a good thing people :P!). Also, I think they are cute xD! Especially Yuka (\(n.n)/)Well, I first heard their song Polyrhythm from a close friend of mine ^.^ and she told me the song reminded her of me and that it really suited me, and she was right! I fell in love with it ^.^ and I still have it on my I-Pod. Do you know how much fun it is when your in an overcrowded bus when everyone has a “I hate mornings” attitude and you listen to Perfume? It rocks!So.. please give them a chance because they are really good and lovely ^.^you will instantly love their voices and the beats, sounds and melody. The songs I really really love are; Polyrhythm, Baby cruising love (I so had to think of “Cruising” you know, like.. cruising..), Chocolate Disco, Macaroni and Game. I really got stuck with those songs so pardon me for not giving it a complete hearing. Though.. I’ve heard all songs those are the songs that really got stuck in my head. Here is some info on the band and how they got started.
Perfume (パフューム) is a female J-Pop and electropop group from Hiroshima, consisting of Ayano Ōmoto, Yuka Kashino, and Ayaka Nishiwaki, that debuted locally in 2001 (Ayano in 2003) and nationally in 2005. They call themselves the “Near Future Technopop Unit”.Since 2003 Perfume has been produced by Yasutaka Nakata, founder of the group capsule and the contemode label. From 2005 to 2008, Perfume has released six major singles.Perfume was formed in 2001 and originally consisted of Ayaka “A~chan” Nishiwaki, Yuka “Kashiyuka” Kashino and Yuuka Kawashima. Shortly after the band’s formation, Kawashima left the group to concentrate on her studies and was replaced by Ayano “Nocchi” Ōmoto.

melody. (Melody Miyuki Ishikawa) is a Japanese-American born and raised in Hawaii, where she attended Punahou School. She moved to Japan when she was 19 years old to pursue her singing career. She has three younger sisters, one of whom (Christine, who goes by the name Kuris) is also involved with the music industry in Japan. melody became most popular in Japan when her song "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz was used in a commercial for Mitsubishi Motors. She is also known for singing the hit single "Realize" which was the theme song for a Drama series called "Dragon Zakura", which debuted #6 on the Oricon charts.

melody.'s single "Lovin' U" was used in a Raycious commercial in 2006. The single included the B-side "Our Journey", which was the theme song for the 2006 movie Gen Yu Den starring Rena Tanaka, who also co-wrote the lyrics to the song. melody. made an appearance in a Japanese Subaru Forester commercial in Spring and Summer 2007, in which her single "Finding My Road", was used as promotion. In April 2007, she started hosting the English-language Japanese music show, J-Melo on NHK World TV. Her single, "Love Story", written by her sister Kuris was used in a drama series "Kodoku No Kake - Itoshikihito Yo" in Summer 2007.

melody. was casted as Yumi in Electronic Art's Need for Speed Carbon. Her song "Feel the Rush", written by her sister Kuris, was also used in the game.

It was announced in February 2008 that melody. would release her fourth album "Lei Aloha". The release came just nine months after "Ready to Go!" and had only one preceeding single "Haruka". The album was released on April 9th 2008. melody. stated that this album is about bonds. On October 8th 2008 melody. will release her first compilation album "The Best of melody. ~Timeline~". It will cover her singles from "Dreamin' Away" to "Haruka". In September 2008 it was announced that melody. will no longer be the host of J-Melo. Japanese singer May J. will take her place for the upcoming season.

melody. is friends with fellow Hawaii-born Japanese-American singer, Yuna Ito.

Prima che sua madre muoia, la protagonista Chiyo e la sua sorella maggiore Satsu vengono portate a Gion da un signor Tanaka. Sua sorella viene venduta ad una casa di malaffare e Chiyo viene venduta presso un'okiya, una casa di geishe.
Con i suoi insoliti occhi grigio-blu, Chiyo è stimolata a diventare una geisha, ma è costantemente ostacolata da Hatsumomo, l'unica geisha dell'okiya Nitta. L'arrogante Hatsumomo riconosce il potenziale di Chiyo ed è turbata ad ogni accenno di competizione. A causa delle macchinazioni di Hatsumomo, Chiyo è ridotta a diventare una domestica nell'okiya, apparentemente senza possibilità di diventare in futuro una geisha.
Un incontro con il buon Presidente cambia il suo destino. Chiyo entra nelle simpatie della geisha più famosa di Gion, Mameha, che è disprezzata da Hatsumomo poiché lei la supera in ogni aspetto e non può essere sconfitta poiché, a differenza di Hatsumomo, Mameha si è guadagnata la sua indipendenza come geisha. Adotta Chiyo come sorella minore, quindi come apprendista, ovvero maiko e la allena per rivaleggiare con Hatsumomo. L'entrata di Chiyo nell'apprendistato è segnata dal ricevere un nuovo nome: Sayuri.
Con il suo successo , Sayuri non solo diventa una geisha di successo, ma riesce a liquidare i debiti che la legavano all'okiya Nitta quando lei era una domestica e viene adottata dalla padrona dell'okiya, la Madre Nitta Kayoko. Lo scoppio della seconda guerra mondiale, un tema prefigurato dal crescente riferimento alla milizia giapponese, rappresenta, strutturalmente, un'altra sfida di rilievo per l'eroina. I suoi successi diventano rapidamente irrilevanti, e la sua bellezza fisica viene appannata dal lavoro manuale e dalla mancanza di cibo. La vita di sfarzi ed eleganze è rimpiazzata da una nuova realtà: la sua personale valle oscura.
Durante il periodo come geisha prima della guerra, incontra il Presidente di nuovo, ma le è impossile avvicinarsi a lui come lei desidererebbe. Si trova, invece, costantemente spinta a stare con Nobu-san, l'amico più fidato del Presidente. È Nobu che salva Sayuri dall'aspro lavoro della guerra finché Gion riapre, a condizione che lei lo lascerà diventare il suo danna, protettore, nonostante lei desideri il Direttore Generale. In seguito, Sayuri e Mameha distruggono interamente la reputazione di Hatsumomo, che è espulsa dall'okiya.
Comunque, il desiderio di Sayuri di stare con il Presidente non la libera veramente per seguire il suo destino finché lei non si mette in una posizione indesiderabile, che la allontana per molto tempo dal Presidente. In seguito, il Presidente chiede di Sayuri e la incontra nel giardino ornamentale di una casa da tè per diventare suo danna. Infine il Presidente la libera dall'okiya per diventare sua amante, lei si trasferisce a New York e apre, divenedone proprietaria, un'elegante casa da tè per uomini d'affari giapponesi cosicché lui possa salvare la reputazione in Giappone quando sua figlia sposi un uomo destinato ad essere il suo erede.

Vicky e Cristina sono buone amiche anche se hanno visioni completamente differenti dell'amore. Vicky è fedele all'uomo che sta per sposare e ancorata ai propri principi. Cristina invece è disinibita e continuamente alla ricerca di una passione amorosa che la sconvolga. Vicky riceve da due amici di famiglia l'offerta di trascorrere una vacanza in casa loro a Barcellona durante l'estate. La ragazza pensa cosi' di poter approfondire la propria conoscenza della cultura catalana sulla quale sta lavorando per un master. Propone a Cristina di accompagnarla, così forse potrà superare meglio il trauma di una storia finita di recente. Una sera, in una galleria d'arte, Cristina incrocia lo sguardo di un uomo estremamente attraente. Si tratta del pittore Juan Antonio, finito di recente su giornali e televisione per un furibondo litigio con la moglie Maria Elena nel corso del quale uno dei due ha cercato di accoltellare l'altro. Le due ragazze lo ritroveranno nel locale in cui cenano. Anzi, sarà lui ad avvicinarsi al loro tavolo con una proposta molto chiara: partire subito con il suo aereo privato per recarsi in un hotel ad Oviedo dove potranno visitare il luogo, apprezzarne tradizioni e cultura (anche culinaria) e fare entrambe l'amore con lui. Se Cristina non ha alcun ripensamento nell'accettare la proposta, le regole che Vicky si è imposta la spingono a rifiutare in modo seccato. Cristina l'avrà vinta ma l'amica vuole avere la certezza di camere separate e ottiene rassicurazioni in proposito. Dopo una giornata trascorsa con una prima visita della città, nel corso della quale Juan Antonio dichiara l'amore che ancora prova per la moglie benché sia consapevole della loro impossibilità a convivere, giunge finalmente la notte con l'invito più intrigante. Vicky torna a respingere l'offerta mentre Cristina accetta. Ma…Se potete non fatevi raccontare (o non leggete) nulla su come prosegue la vicenda. Finireste con il togliervi il piacere della scoperta di uno dei più riusciti ed ironici film dell'ultimo Allen. Perché è vero che Woody ha dei temi e delle scelte narrative su cui periodicamente ritorna (per questo i detrattori lo accusano di ripetitività) ma quando, come in questa occasione, sa farlo con un approccio totalmente nuovo allora è davvero festa in sala. Perché questa volta la scelta dell'Io narrante è funzionale al modo con cui vengono guardati (e presentati) i personaggi. Osservate, a titolo di esempio, l'entrata in scena di Juan Antonio: Javier Bardem è straordinario nel caratterizzare, già da quella inquadratura, il suo personaggio. Allen torna a riflettere sulla natura di quello che chiamiamo amore registrando gli spostamenti del cuore che vanno spesso al di là di ciò che ragione, tradizione, valori acquisiti ma mai del tutto interiorizzati, sembrerebbero imporre. Ecco allora che l'impostazione dei caratteri di Vicky e Cristina diviene da subito funzionale alla creazione di un'attesa. Resteranno salde nelle loro posizioni? In che misura potrebbero mutare atteggiamento? Quando dall'altra parte ci sono un Bardem che riempie lo schermo per la gioia di signore e signorine pronte a partire per Oviedo senza remore e una Penelope Cruz forse altrettanto efficace solo nelle mani di Pedro Almodovar, il gioco si fa ancor più interessante. Anche perchè Woody ha abbattuto un altro dei suoi tabù. Se finora solo rarissimamente aveva girato in piena estate (fatti salvi Una commedia sexy in una notte di mezza estate, le cui riprese avevano pero' avuto luogo a poche decine di chilometri da Manhattan, e alcune scene di Tutti dicono I Love You) ora è la luminosa Barcellona ad attrarre il suo sguardo. Si sarà senz'altro trattato di esigenze produttive (come era accaduto per la peraltro nuvolosa e quindi rassicurante Londra). Fatto sta che il calore della città catalana (e della sorprendente Oviedo) si trasmette al film offrendogli un'ulteriore sensazione di novità. !Felicitaciones Woody!

When it comes to satire and parody, reality television seems ripe for the picking. Although the popularity of Big Brother is on the wane (according to this year's viewing figures the ninth series of the British version of Big Brother was apparently the most unpopular series since it started), our TV screens are still filled with endless variations of this rubbish: I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Strictly Come Dancing, the X Factor, Wife Swap et cetera, et cetera. How refreshing, then, to find a book that looks at reality television and poses the question, what if we created a show that was so utterly tasteless and so morally outrageous, would anyone watch it? Belgian author Amélie Nothomb seems to think the answer is yes. In her intriguingly titled Sulphuric Acid, first published in 2005, she creates a reality television show like no other in which Parisians are rounded up on the street, thrown into cattle trucks and taken to a TV studio that has been set up to look like a concentration camp. Here, contestants are forced to live like prisoners, deprived of food and basic human necessities, under the watchful eye of the TV cameras. A select few are elevated to the position of kapo (guard) and are encouraged to be aggressive and mean to the prisoners under their "care". The show, which is called Concentration, is obviously immoral but the ratings are sky high and viewers are hooked on the dynamic between one of the prisoners, the beautiful Pannonique -- otherwise known as CKZ 114 -- and her guard, the despised Zdena, who regularly beats her. At times the book is almost too horrific to read. It exposes the ease with which people can turn against their fellow human beings, treating them with brutality and contempt as if their lives were totally worthless. But the book also shows the capacity for human suffering and it is perhaps this aspect I found so chilling. Nothcomb uses this fable to have a pop at the media, too, but ultimately she reserves her most damning judgment for the viewing public. This is a blackly funny and provocative read, one that makes no bones about condemning our obsession with reality television and the celebrities it creates. It's ultimately very shocking, and some may find it too twisted, too dark, for their liking. Still, it's hard not to admire an author who, in just 127 pages, is capable of packing such a powerhouse punch using nothing more than elegant, bare-boned prose and a strong moral compass
